There aren’t many occasions when you should choose to completely wipe your computer hard drive. Unless you have a pervasive virus that you simply cannot get rid of, or you want to replace your entire operating system, then you probably won’t want to choose this route. It is, however, useful to know how to get a complete clean computer hard drive just in case you need to delete everything from your computer.

If you want a complete clean computer hard drive, then you can reformat your hard drive. Doing so requires accessing the operating system from the MS-DOS prompt. From the DOS prompt, type in “format c: /s”. The computer will ask you whether you really want to do this. After giving it the go ahead, it will wipe your disc clean. You should, therefore, only use this as a last resort.
